UK: In a bid to up-skill hospitality workers who are out of work during the COVID-19 pandemic, Avvio has launched its Hotel Digital Academy free to all those within the industry.

Announced in a personal video message, Avvio’s co-founder Frank Reeves invited industry peers to enhance their skills by signing up to its Hotel Digital Academy free of charge.

The Academy will cover an introduction to digital marketing through self-learning modules and a range of webinars and guides. Classes begin 6 April 2020.

Reeves said: “This unprecedented downturn in travel has already seen hundreds of thousands of talented hotel staff laid off. And right now, so many passionate industry professionals, young, old, novice and veteran alike, are in their homes looking for a competitive advantage for themselves and their hotel brand for when this industry recovers.”

“Hotel distribution will have changed. Revenue management and marketing, and many other aspects of hospitality, will be different. Hotel digital marketing, that is a strong understanding in how online travel works, together with the tools and skills required to develop a powerful brand.com strategy - these tools and skills will be more important than ever before.”

“In this time of crisis, we [Avvio] are now turning our time, our expertise and our resources to helping you, the hoteliers of the future that may wish to use some of this time to enhance your skills.”

“On behalf of myself and all of my colleagues at Avvio, we want you and your hotels to come back stronger than ever.”
