US: Markus Treppenhaeur has been named as the general manager of Fairmont’s flagship property in San Francisco.

Treppenhaeur joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2007, as director of operations at Fairmont Orchid, Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Following, he was promoted to hotel manager at Fairmont Banff Springs, Alberta, Canada, and accepted his first general manager role in 2012, at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in the same area.

Most recently, Treppenhaeur held the position of general manager at Fairmont Olympic. Here, he managed the operation of the hotel, leading the property through a $50 million renovation and restoration.

Commenting on his appointment at Fairmont San Francisco, Treppenhaeur said: “I am delighted to continue my tenure with Fairmont Hotels & Resort as Accor expands its presence in key destinations throughout the world. I am especially pleased to oversee the iconic Fairmont San Francisco, which has defined hospitality for more than a century and to guide the landmark hotel to new heights of luxury and guest satisfaction.”

Fairmont San Francisco reopened its doors Thursday 17 September. Its Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar will be open for grab and go only, whereas The Tonga Room and Live Fit Gym remain closed until further notice.

Fairmont has a global portfolio of more than 80 hotels, and is part of Accor.
