US: Lark Hotels has announced the addition of The Hotel Portsmouth to its collection of boutique properties.

The property is Lark Hotels' second in Portsmouth, new Hampshire, and joins sister Portsmouth property Ale House Inn and 11 other hotels in New England and California.

Built in 1881 by the wealthy ship merchant and businessman John E. Sise, the 32-room hotel  underwent a six-month in 2014 prior to re-opening as The Hotel Portsmouth.

"While rooms were updated with a contemporary feel, the previous owners took great care to preserve the gorgeous woodwork and architectural details, and we loved the results," said Rob Blood, Lark Hotels founder and CEO. "With the addition of The Hotel Portsmouth, we now have the two most unique boutique properties in the city - the Ale House Inn near the harbor and this hotel, which anchors the other side of the commercial district."

Guest amenities include free wireless internet, iPads loaded with area information, an outdoor patio and garden, and complimentary parking for all guests.
