Preferred Hotels global future travel survey findings revealed

Worldwide: 4,000 members of the group’s I Prefer Hotel Rewards programme participated in a survey that looked at aspirations and plans for future travel when restrictions are lifted or eased.

For the second half of 2020, more than 50 per cent of respondents said they’ll book a trip, and most will do so as soon as travel restrictions are lifted. 17 per cent are booking travel for 2020 now.

When asked about destination, over half of Americans are planning to stay in the US for their next trip. The wider consensus nevertheless saw over 40 per cent of respondents wanting to travel to another continent.

Specifically, the top 10 designations were:

  • Florida
  • Italy
  • United Kingdom
  • California
  • France
  • Hawaii
  • New York
  • Spain
  • Japan
  • Mexico

For accommodation, 51 per cent are planning to book a city hotel, with 30 per cent looking for a beach resort.

More than 80 per cent therefore said they will travel by air, and 75 per cent are planning to travel with family.
