US: With COVID-19 eliminating large gatherings, weddings have either been cancelled, postponed or downsized, and now hotels are offering micro-wedding packages.

Micro-weddings are intimate and small-scale gatherings, typically with no more than 50 guests.

The pandemic has led to a shift in how weddings are planned and hosted, evidenced in the packages that are now being offered by hotel venues.

Fitler Club in Philadelphia, a private members’ club, features a 14-room boutique hotel and flexible high-tech event space. Its recently launched micro-wedding package starts at $5k and includes a one-night stay in the Wedding Suite for the newlyweds, as well as a 30 minute ceremony and several food and beverage options.

Aparium Hotel Group, which has luxury hotels dotted across the United States, offers a variety of micro-wedding packages at sites in New Orleans, Montclair, Detroit, Minneapolis, Kansas City and Topeka. These start at $500 and require a $1500 spend for each property.

Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort is located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Its micro-wedding package features a two hour wedding reception at the pool bar, as well as spending credit per each room booked for breakfast and spa visits.

Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden usually holds close to 300 weddings in its gardens and facilities each year. With several secluded spots within its 66 acres to choose from, the bride and groom will be assigned an event manager to help coordinate and oversee the ceremony. The gatherings here are limited to 10 people.

The Ritz-Carlton in Bal Harbour, Miami, is adding a four-night “micro moon” stay to its micro-wedding package, with a price starting at $12k. This includes the ceremony, reception and dinner, as well as a four-night honeymoon stay at the hotel.

Karisma Hotels & Resorts is offering a free trip down the aisle as part of its micro-wedding package. Couples that book at least five rooms in properties across Mexico and the Caribbean will receive a complimentary ceremony and honeymoon experience, such as a private candlelit dinner on the beach or gourmet breakfast in bed.
