Hotel Indigo opens in Durham

UK: IHG’s Hotel Indigo brand has opened a new property in Durham city centre.

The property, owned by Maven Capital, is set in a Grade II-listed former university building in the city and features 83 rooms across three different room types. Hotel Indigo Durham also features the Rotunda bar, Tinderbox Espresso Bar and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill.

The Hotel Indigo brand plans to open three more UK properties this year: Hotel Indigo London - 1 Leicester Square, Hotel Indigo London - Aldgate, and Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon.

Tom Rowntree, vice president of brand management - luxury and boutique brands, IHG, said: "We want to ensure each city is reflected through the design of every Hotel Indigo property, making each one completely unique. We are pleased that new and existing fans of Hotel Indigo are now able to explore one of the UK's most historic and iconic cities with the arrival of Hotel Indigo Durham."

Hotel Indigo now has 24 hotels across Europe with another 20 due to open during the next three to five years. This will include another 11 properties in the UK, where 11 hotels already open.

Hotel Indigo is a sponsor of the 2018 Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit which takes place in London on May 21 and 22.
