US: Local Hotel Adventures, an independent hotel management company, has commenced construction of The Andell Inn, a boutique hotel at Freshfields Village, South Carolina.

Freshfields Village is a mixed-use dining and retail destination located at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns Islands.

Scheduled to open in early 2014, The Andell Inn is a lifestyle hotel concept created by company CEO Don Semmler. It is named after the Andell family, who settled in the region in 1876 and owned all of Seabrook Island, including the land where the hotel is being built. Descendants of the family remain in the area and have "inspired some of the design and programming aspects for the inn".

The concept reportedly blends "warm, modern design with the convenience of apartment living as each room will include a full kitchen and living space".

The 100-room property, which will be independently owned and managed, will have three room types: studios, one- and two-bedroom layouts that can be joined together to create large multi-room suites. Amenities include a pool, fitness centre, large great room with a bar, complimentary breakfast and wireless Internet. The Andell Inn will be independently owned and operated.

"Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands are extraordinary destinations with world-class amenities, award-winning architectural design, and a rich history," said Semmler.  "Our goal is to create a place that complements the existing hospitality landscape by delivering an engaging customer experience with smart service and compelling local design characteristics."

"The Andell Inn represents a considerable step in creating additional value for these sea island communities and the future development of Freshfields Village," said Freshfields Village Property Manager, Elisa Cooper. "Given Don's expertise in hotel operation and Kiawah Partners' history of award-winning design and planning, the elements are here to create one of the truly unique hotel venues anywhere in the region."
