Romania: French hotel group Accor is aiming to open up to 10 Mgallery boutique properties in the country.

The company is talking with local boutique hotel owners and hopes to sign the first partnership - either a franchise or management agreement - in 2013. The company is looking at properties in Bucharest, Sibiu and Brasov and says that there is potential of between five or ten such hotels.

Luc Gesvret, senior vice president of operations at Accor, said: "It's a new label, a new collection of hotels, which are boutique hotels, called Mgallery. The hotels we enter into partnership with keep their name and identity and we bring them the label Mgallery, with the benefits being our added value, belonging to a very strong international network and the distribution which will be the key for the future of the hotel industry."

"We can label a hotel very quickly - in just a few weeks - and there is a very small investment to make because we keep the hotel as it is, in terms of its identity and character, and we bring the knowhow, the distribution and the belonging to a strong international network," added Gesvret.
