Italy: Langham Hospitality Group has announced its first property in Italy, located on the Venetian Lagoon on the island of Murano.

The 138-key hotel will be housed in the former Casino Mocenigo. Milan-based architecture and design studio Matteo Thun & Partners will oversee the renovation, which will showcase an outdoor swimming pool and garden in the  courtyard.

Two restaurants will serve a selection of cuisines and will feature a cooking school, and one of the alfresco bars will be located on the rooftop.

The group’s signature Chuan Spa will offer wellness therapies and treatments based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and other amenities include a fully-equipped fitness centre, a ballroom, and multifunction rooms.

Stefan Leser, chief executive officer of Langham Hospitality Group, commented: “Venice remains one of the world’s leading leisure destinations and we are delighted to have found such an exceptional site on which to develop our first hotel in Italy. The Langham, Venice will provide an exclusive leisure experience that blends the finest elements of the local Venetian culture and heritage with personalised intuitive service that are the hallmarks of The Langham luxury experience.

“The opening of The Langham, Venice will be an important milestone for the brand as we continue to cultivate our presence in Europe,” added Leser. “We look forward to elevating our guests’ extraordinary experiences at this spectacular hotel, and we are proud to play a part in upholding the fine traditions of Venetian luxury hospitality.”

The Langham, Venice forms part of the group’s European expansion strategy, with further locations expected in Paris and Berlin. Other destinations include Tokyo, San Francisco, Jakarta, Gold Coast and Chengdu.
