London hotel and private members club operator Soho House is planning a 30-bedroom boutique hotel in Chicago's West Loop neighbourhood.

The six-storey West Loop building, formerly known as the Allis Building, will also feature a café, two restaurants and a spa on the ground floor, if plans put forward by Soho House and Chicago developer AJ Capital Partners come to fruition.

The hotel rooms will wrap around the outside of the former industrial building, with the core of the building hosting amenities for a Soho House private club. Features will include a gym, library, event spaces and a rooftop swimming pool.

Jeff Shapack of AJ Capital Partners said his company will try to preserve as much of the original building as possible during renovation. He also said that he and partner Ben Weprin have been looking for the right site for a Soho House operation in Chicago since 2006.

Soho House currently operates four hotels in the UK, one in Berlin and two in the US.
