Selina opens third UK property in Brighton

UK: Selina, a Latin-American lifestyle brand, has opened its third property in the UK following sites in Manchester and Birmingham.

The new hotel, located on the promenade in Brighton on the south coast, comprises 31 bedrooms including private rooms, suites and shared room categories. A further 19 bedrooms are scheduled to open in 2021 including shared community rooms which fit up to six guests

The property occupies the former West Beach Hotel.

Interior designer Tola Ojuolape collaborated with Selina’s workshop team to design and fit rooms with furniture sourced from across city as part of the hotel’s up-cycling ethos.

Amenities at the hotel include a beach front restaurant and bar, The Old Pier, along with a coffee shop and retail space in the lobby area.

A co-working space will also be launching for locals to use as a community hub with artwork created and curated by local artist Amy Isles Freeman, whose work themes around female sexuality, freedom and joy.

General manager, Hugo Carvalho, said: “We’re thrilled to bring our unique Selina concept to one of the most exciting cities in the UK, and in such a thriving and bohemian neighbourhood full of culture, individuality and a place to cultivate hedonism and escape social restrictions. We can’t wait to open our doors and provide a new hub for the Brighton community; a fairground for daring and unadulterated fun.”

Since the company’s launch in 2015, Selina has raised up to $225 million in investor funding. Its portfolio comprises 128 properties across 19 countries.

During the coronavirus pandemic, it was reported that Selina had raised a further $60 million in additional funding.

According to TOPHOTELPROJECTS, Selina had 21 projects in progress with none on hold and none cancelled as of 3 August 2020. Locations include US, Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Germany and Israel.
