Second Voco hotel to open in Edinburgh

UK: Voco Edinburgh - Haymarket is the first new build property under the brand in the United Kingdom, and will be located in the city’s West End.

The property, operated by Axcel Hospitality, features 150 rooms with an all-day dining venue The Blossom Restaurant & Bar, as well as a gym.

It will join the 230-room Voco Grand Central in Glasgow, which is attached to the Glasgow Central rail station. Both hotels will open in line with government regulations, with restrictions expected to ease for Scottish pubs, cafes and restaurants on April 26.

Oushan Deeljore, director at Axcel Hospitality, said: “We are thrilled to soon be opening Voco Edinburgh - Haymarket, an upscale hotel in a fantastic location. This is Axcel Hospitality’s eighth opening in the UK since 2012 and demonstrates our commitment to developing and managing hotels in key locations. It is our second IHG Hotels & Resorts property within the portfolio and our second hotel in Scotland.”

In November 2020, IHG debuted the Voco brand in New York City. Voco has now officially reached 50 signed and open hotels in more than 20 countries, which according to IHG is the company’s fastest ever global expansion.

Earlier this year, IHG underwent a rebrand in which its 16 brands have been grouped in four collections: Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites. The Voco brand falls under IHG's Premium collection.
