Rosewood re-launches with Wolfgang Puck restaurant

US: The Rosewood Hotel on the C&O Canal in Georgetown has reopened after nine months, following an extensive renovation of the property.

Declining to disclose how much the owner, CTF Georgetown Hotel LLC, spent on the renovation, the 49-room Rosewood hotel now features a 114-seat bar and lounge on the first floor called Cut.

Cut, by Wolfgang Puck, delivers a wider-ranging menu than several other locations of the brand. It will have a full raw bar and a heavy focus on vegetarian dishes in addition to steak.

Along with his team, executive chef Andrew Skala will be cooking over a large live-fire grill, complete with a wood-fired oven and two grill stations.

There will also be tableside presentations - a concept that Puck became known for at his first restaurant, The Source, in Washington D.C.

Puck's restaurant group will be running the hotel's rooftop bar and lounge too: A Cut Above. Accessible to the public, this lounge area has been updated with all new furniture and canopy.

Alex Resnik, senior operating partner for Wolfgang Puck, said: "If we bring our level of hospitality and personal attention, we feel that we have a chance to extend the success of The Source into a new version of the Cut brand."

Aside from the new dining spaces, Rosewood has added to its room cache through the purchase of six Georgetown rowhomes on South Street, located round the corner from the hotel.

The rooms will be 1,100 square-feet with full kitchens and living spaces. Rosewood will continue to service the properties with housekeeping and room service, and private butlers will also be available.
