US: Danish startup to build a network of portable rentals.

Poshtel has announced that it will launch a network of luxury shipping containers. It is the first step in a wider program of rolling-out the containers for long and short-term rental.

The chain of designer suites will be available to rent through Airbnb. The founders announced the launch at the Disrupt 2017 Startup Battlefield earlier this month.

Poshtel was founded by Morten Lund, Søren Henningsen and O Koo. It has raised $500,000 to date with from Bjarke Ingels, co-founder Morten Lund and Chairman of Scandic Hotels Vagn Sørensen.

Speaking to TechCrunch earlier this month, Koo said: The first set of products that we're launching is a little bit more along the luxury line… We wanted to prove our first model first."

The team hope to release lower-range shipping containers in the future.

The company uses eco-friendly designs and materials and will stock its structures with sustainable products local to the region they are placed in.
