Japan: Jikeikai Group has announced the launch of Wellness Hotel Zen-Aomori, a 145-room property planned for construction in the upper levels of the JR Aomori Station Building.

The hotel will feature a restaurant serving locally-sourced Japanese food with vegan and vegetarian options, health and wellness facilities, as well as areas designed for business meetings.

Designer Hiroshi Matsuba, who has created more than 180 Japanese traditional ryokan hotels, will design the tenth floor of the property - exclusive to hotel guests.

Upon arrival, guests will be offered a full medical check-up followed by personalised wellness regimens, spa treatments, meditation guidance, nutritional and dietary treatments, and more.

Optional packages include twin stays at one of Jikeikai’s mountain resorts, Tsuta Onsen or Hotel Jogakura.

Tomohiro Tanno, CEO of the Jikeikai Group, said: "We want to expose people from around the world to our unique Japanese wellness experience – helping them to improve their lives, enrich their health, find comfortable serenity and relax. After years of work and planning, we are honoured to begin construction of Japan's first wellness hotel, and look forward to offering Zen-Aomori's world-class amenities, comforts and services to our guests."

Wellness Hotel Zen-Aomori is planned to open in 2024.
