Germany: Hotel group IHG has announced the opening of Hotel Indigo Dresden – Wettiner Platz and Hotel Indigo Berlin – East Side Gallery.

The openings fall into the group's large expansion plans in Europe. Both hotels have been strategically placed to honour the brand's ethos that no two Hotel Indigo locations are the same.

Hotel Indigo Dresden - Wettiner Platz represents the brand's first hotel in Saxony, located next door to striking baroque architecture and outdoor activities, making it ideal for guests looking to discover a region of Germany that is rich in culture. Meanwhile, Hotel Indigo Berlin - East Side Gallery overlooks the world's largest open air gallery and comes with over a kilometre of original art pieces.

The 132-key Hotel Indigo Dresden - Wettiner Platz is in close proximity to the city's historic centre, as well as the Brühl's Terrace, dubbed the 'The Balcony of Europe', which stretches along the river Elbe.

Kraftwerk Mitte is a nearby former electricity plant, which has been transformed into an arts centre and regularly plays host to some of the most renowned DJs in Europe. Within the same neighbourhood, the Academy Of Fine Arts in Dresden, HfBK Dresden, occupies a neo-Renaissance building with a large glass dome.

Hotel Indigo Dresden - Wettiner Platz takes design cues from Dresden's contrasting architecture styles, from modern, industrial buildings to historical Baroque architecture. Its guest rooms contrast with the city's baroque architecture, with wood-panelled walls and colours inspired by the copper verdigris of the grandest buildings in Dresden.

Hotel Indigo Berlin - East Side Gallery is designed with inspiration from the creative East Side neighbourhood, combining raw industrial architecture and retro elements such as graffiti blocks and a bright colour scheme. All guest rooms are fully equipped with USB outlets, a 43-inch Smart TV and complementary Wi-Fi.

The onsite restaurant and bar, Gallery Restaurant, provides guests and locals with a place to sample traditional German cuisine served in a tapas style, made from locally sourced fresh produce. The Gallery Rooftop Bar offers views overlooking the river Spree.

A prime location for guests to explore the local neighbourhood, Hotel Indigo Berlin - East Side Gallery is in walking distance of attractions such as Oberbaumbrücke, the former checkpoint between East and West Berlin, and Wrangelkiez, which has a range of unique shops, cafes and bars. The latter is notable for its flamboyant street art, curated by some internationally renowned street artists.

The hotel brand, which is expanding in tier two cities across Europe to more than 105 properties worldwide, also has Hotel Indigo Chester in the pipeline with its unveiling scheduled for later this month.
