United States: A distinctive boutique hotel in downtown Milwaukee is currently undergoing renovation.

Hotel Metro, on 411 E Mason Street, is having its 63 rooms refurbished in order to align more closely with the Marriott Autograph Collection brand.

The hotel's general manager, Michael Falkenstein, said the Odgen family, which has owned the hotel since 1998, would remain as the hotel's proprietors once the renovations are completed.

Falkenstein said: "So, new management, heritage owner, heritage boutique hotel."

The model rooms are expected to be finished in October despite no completion date for the project as yet being disclosed. The rooms themselves will undergo renovation by the end of this year, when work will take place on one floor at a time.

The Milwaukee hotel is particularly distinctive for its turquoise double doors which are instantly visible as visitors enter the building.
