UK: Apex City of London Hotel announces completion of large-scale refurbishment

A £1.5 million refurbishment programme has been completed at the Apex City of London Hotel.

During the nine month project, the hotel's public areas and largest meeting rooms were given a makeover, with a new restaurant and contemporary spa introduced to the property.

The new restaurant, The Lampery, provides a fresh all-day dining destination with honest cooking in the heart of historic London - with the concept spearheaded by hospitality and events company, Concerto, in partnership with Apex Hotels. The restaurant offers a 'Best of British' menu inspired by Head Chef Francesco Zanchetta's passion for authentic British cuisine.

Brian Tapson, general manager of Apex City of London Hotel, said: "We're thrilled to welcome guests to our new look hotel. Following the addition of 30 bedrooms just two years ago, the refurbishment has transformed the hotel, with the inclusion of an indulgent spa and food offering that will appeal to locals as well as hotel guests."

The Lampery head chef, Francesco Zanchetta, said: "We are delighted to welcome guests and foodies to The Lampery here at Apex City of London and in the heart of one of London's most historic neighbourhoods, Tower Bridge. It's the perfect new destination for a celebration, an enjoyable dinner with friends or a snappy work lunch and we have plenty of plans in the pipeline for entertainment, including a music programme."

The hotel has also partnered with PURE Spa & Beauty to launch a new spa. The spa features an infra-red sauna, manicure and pedicure bars, a spray tan booth, relaxation area and luxury retail area.

Becky Woodhouse, CEO at PURE Spa & Beauty, said: "We're thrilled to open our new spa at Apex City of London Hotel. Not only does it represent our eighth UK facility, but it also signals the continuation of a fantastic partnership with Apex Hotels. Our relationship has gone from strength to strength since we opened PURE Spa & Beauty at Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in Edinburgh in 2015, and we're hoping to emulate that success here in the middle of the bustling, buzzing city of London."
