UK: Inspired by the New York borough of the same name, Bespoke Hotels has announced the opening of Hotel Brooklyn.

The property focuses on cutting edge design by leading firm Squid.inc, and aims to capture the spirit of Manchester's industrial past and identity.

The design centres around cues of modern Brooklyn's loft spaces. Brass fixtures and Turkish rugs adorn the exposed concrete walls, with bathrooms cleverly angled to create as much open space as possible.

The hotel also hopes to have one of the most holistically accessible properties in the city. 18 bedrooms include features like basins with integrated hand grips, removable matt black grab rails, accessible bedroom storage and a hidden ceiling track hoist, all designed by accessible design leader Motionspot.

Ed Warner, Motionspot CEO said: "We hope this high level of attention paid to inclusivity will make Hotel Brooklyn one of the most sought-after venues for guests of all abilities."

The hotel will also include major food and beverage and entertainment spaces. Runyon's, the restaurant, will include European and American style cuisine, and Salvation Bar will provide private events spaces for the Manchester community with panoramic rooftop views.

Robin Sheppard, CEO of Bespoke Hotels, the property's manager, said: "We are thrilled to have secured this fantastic site in the heart of Manchester's historic industrial thoroughfare of Portland Street. We believe Hotel Brooklyn is a perfect fit for Manchester, not solely in terms of the architectural grandeur and convenience of its location, but the abundant character and feistiness of the city."

Manchester has been a key investment site for hotel development over the past year. The city has recently seen the opening of Lowry Hotels'  Junior Suites, and projects from famous footballer Ryan Giggs.
