UK: WILDES Hotel Group has announced that it recently signed a lease on a grade II listed property in the heart of Chester.

It currently is applying for planning consent to convert the building into a stylish boutique hotel.

The building itself was developed in 1892 by Thomas M Lockwood, and features massive fireplaces, stone windows, and exposed beams. The refurbishment would attempt to retain these features while introducing modern design cues sourced from variouls London hotels.

Paul Wildes, CEO of The WILDES Hotel Group said: "We believe that there's an opportunity in the city to create a go-to destination that offers exceptional accommodation for business and leisure travellers, the ultimate dining spot or somewhere to enjoy evening cocktails whatever the occasion. Our focus is to delight our guests' senses through innovative food and service with a real aim to redefine hospitality within the city."

The hotel's 16 bedrooms will all be individually unique with freestanding furnishings and open plans. Specific proposed designs include a bathroom lit by a skylight and a four seater cinema.

Other amenities include a state of the art spa, a nail bar, a rooftop pool and terrace, as well as a contemporary restaurant and bar facility. Benedict's, the proposed name for the restaurant, will focus on all day food and quality service.

Annabel Farbon of the Grosvenor Estate, who will retain freehold ownership, said: "We believe that the proposed use will provide a lasting economic and social benefit in the heart of the city. As well as generating significant employment and boosting the economy, the development will support the city's High Street Heritage Action Zone project to renovate and reinvigorate the rows."

This is WILDES' first move into Chester, continuing its expansion throughout the Northwest. The company hopes to have the hotel functional by 2021.
