Wearable panic button for hospitality staff

US: A Philadelphia-based business, ROAR for Good, has created AlwaysOn - a panic button that allows hospitality workers to summon help when trouble is encountered on the job.

The button sends a push notification that pinpoints the user's location to a mobile device, which can be kept in areas such as a hotel front desk or within a security office.

A loud beeping sound alerts staff that a call for help has been triggered, allowing management to quickly and efficiently respond.

Marriott Vacations Worldwide purchased AlwaysOn over a year ago, and is currently in use at locations such as Miami Beach and Galloway.

David Bareno, assistant vice president of global safety at Marriott Vacations Worldwide, said: "Our CEO wanted to provide this protection. Anyone who has to go into guest rooms by themselves gets the device. They can easily push the button and get help".

Although companies using AlwaysOn are cautioned not to activate the system for non-emergency situations, it has been used to call help for falls and injuries.

CEO at ROAR for Good, Yasmine Mustafa, is looking to partner with a local boutique hotel in order to test new features.
