UK: Hotel brand Selina has launched into the UK with the opening of a 37-room property in Manchester.

Founded in Latin America in 2015, Selina now operates in 50 locations throughout South America and Europe.

Its most recent hotel, Selina NQ1, has opened in the northern quarter of Manchester, and features a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, Irish pub, and basement club. A co-working space is set to open in the coming months.

The restaurant, Wilson's Social, is named after record label owner Tony Wilson. Dishes include agave and jalapeno glazed chicken wings, black pepper tofu with marinated watermelon and cucumber, and pan-fried sea bass fillets with whipped avocado.

Designed by Lorna Keller, the 132 beds are split between suites and shared rooms that can accommodate between three and eight guests, including a female-only option.

Head of UK for Selina, Erwin de Jong Oliveira, said: "Being able to bring Selina to Manchester is such an exciting opportunity. We wanted to blend Selina's Latin-American roots with the rich history of Manchester to infuse the aesthetics together and provide a hub for digital nomads around the world."

Further properties are expected to open in 100 other locations by 2022, with a second UK hotel set to launch in Birmingham at the end of September followed by a Liverpool property by the end of the year.
