AUS: The final stage of a $2.2 million refurbishment at Jasper Hotel is underway and nearly finished.

The boutique property first opened in 2014 in the Queen Victoria Markets precinct in Melbourne.

The six-week renovation project will see 59 of the hotel's deluxe rooms upgraded, with new King Koil Platinum bedding in both king and twin suites.

Other highlights include new 55" smart televisions, work desks, and open-plan cabinetry.

General manager of Jasper Hotel, Tony Tantaro, said: "As a revitalised boutique hotel with 90 rooms, we can offer something different, attractive and well-priced that will appeal to both the domestic and international market for hotel stays, functions and corporate events."

Tantaro added that the imminent completion of the refurbishment will lift the property to compete with the surge of new hotels entering the local market - one being a new-build by Veriu Hotels, set to open in 2022.
