UK: Southampton’s New Place Hotel has celebrated its first cohort of graduates from its training academy, launched last year.

The New Place Academy is a training scheme held in partnership with the Hospitality, Travel & Tourism department of Chichester College.

Through one-to-one meetings, personal study, and evidence-based assessments, staff from all areas of the hotel successfully completed an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in 'Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality'.

"The purpose of our Academy is to raise aspiration, qualification, and achievement across our entire workforce, regardless of position or background," said general manager, Richard Powell.

Certificates were awarded to Alin Tanase, Evangelos Nikoloudakos, Eleanor Butler, Jacinta Martin, and Robert Green.

Powell continued: "We've learned a lot along the way and hope this first cohort will provide inspiration and support for the second who will start their courses later this year."
