Malaysia: Travellers from around the world can now stay at the citizenM Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang hotel in Malaysia, which opened its doors on 1 June.

CitizenM's latest affordable luxury hotel in the Malaysian capital is the brand's third venture into the Asian market (after the opening of Taipei North Gate hotel in July 2017, and Shanghai Hongqiao hotel back in December). It is also the Dutch brand's first opening of the calendar year and the latest addition to the citizenM portfolio represents its 16th urban destination worldwide.

citizenM Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang is so named because of the buzzing district in which it is based, which is characterised by shopping, entertainment and dining destination within the Golden Triangle. The hotel wants to be the guests' gateway to an epicentre of food, fashion and fun, with the city's temples and street markets accessible to them.

The Bukit Bintang location allows both tourists and business travellers to combine leisure and work time, especially with the famous Jalan Alor street complete with open-air restaurants and terraces, only 100 metres away.

The 210-key hotel will aim to again shake up the traditional hotel industry with innovative front-desk and in-room technology in place to deliver a pleasant guest experience. The check-in/check-out kiosks eliminate the usual queues to reception and a designer living room is in place of a traditional lobby, which accommodates Vitra furniture, commissioned art, books, work spaces and TVs.

The living room will feature a painted art ceiling, foliage carpets, and large planters with hanging greenery, in order to represent the colours and nature for which Malaysia is recognised.

Guests can use the living room for their own home comforts, where they can relax, read, watch TV, work, or meet friends. They will also be able to admire the artwork created by local artists, mixed with iconic pieces from around the world, such as Azizi Latiff and Afiq Faris.

CanteenM is a dining space and bar that is dedicated to 24/7 food and drink.

To facilitate easy working for business travellers, citizenM Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang features society, incorporating three creative meeting spaces that include a theatre-style room for up to 40 participants. These spaces can be booked for full- or half-day meetings, workshops, presentations, interviews, and other gatherings, with catering available additionally on request.

While a traditional hotel lists at least three room types, citizenM hotels are all designed to include the same affordable luxury experience for their guests no matter where they sleep. Every bedroom has a huge XL king-size bed with a luxury mattress, duvet and pillows, a powerful rain shower, towels, a smart TV, blackout blinds, multiple plugs and Vitra furniture.

Rooms are controlled by an iPad, or 'MoodPad' as they are known at citizenM - so a guest can set any mood in the room, including coloured lighting, temperature and entertainment content. Superfast free Wi-Fi is available for guests to stream their own entertainment via Apple or Android devices.
