Hungary: The Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, has completed its four-year renovation project, with the opening coming later this month.

The full-scale historic reconstruction was undertaken by Párizs Property Kft and carried out in line with stringent preservation rules, which involved help from specialised restoration professionals.

The 110-room boutique hotel is the first Hyatt hotel in Hungary and the fourth property in Europe to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The site, previously the most expensive in the Hungarian capital, originally accommodated Budapest's first modern shopping mall, which was inspired by the Passage des Panoramas in Paris.

Mellow Mood Hotels owners, Zuhair Awad and Sameer Hamdan, said: "Párizs Property Kft. and Mellow Mood Hotels are excited to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. We are very proud to open this renowned landmark building and to give it back to Budapest.

"Its rich history and stunning architecture will deliver memorable stays for modern travellers. Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest marks a new era for tourism in Hungary: it's a symbol of both the renaissance of the golden age of Budapest and the dynamic development of the city," they added.

Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest general manager Tamás Fazekas said: "We are proud to open this remarkable and iconic property to travellers looking for an unforgettable experience. The hotel represents Hungary's impressive architecture and craftsmanship; a place which residents and tourists have treasured for decades."

The furnished guestrooms are comprised of 18 luxurious suites, of which two are designed as Royal Residences. On the top floor, the spacious Budapest and Paris Residences provide guests with a birds-eye view of the city, while premium room guests can make the most of the Club Lounge.

Its restaurant, Párisi Passage Café & Brasserie, counts on early 20th century influences with ornately decorated Majolica tiles, Murano glass mosaic and a Luxfer Prism crystal cupola. In the evening, the space is transformed into a lively bar with piano music, where guests can relax with an artisanal cocktail and local and international cuisine.

In addition, the Zafir Spa features an infrared room, steam room, Finnish sauna, ice well, hydromassage, body and face treatments, and nail and beauty services using Adrienne Feller and Janssen cosmetics. Guests also have 24-7 access to the hotel's dedicated fitness centre.

The hotel incorporates four distinctive multi-functional meeting and event spaces which can hold up to 160 guests and are fitted with up-to-date audio technology for large audiences.

Following June's opening, the passage will continue to allow the public to visit and walk through, with shops open onto the street front. Construction of certain shops remains in the latter completion phase.
