Guest promoted to GM at The Alexandra

UK: The Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant in Lyme Regis, Dorset, has promoted Fiona Guest to general manager.

She moves in to the role from her previous position as events co-ordinator, and has been a key member of the hotel team since she first arrived 11 years ago.

Kathryn Haskins, director, said: "We are absolutely delighted to appoint Fiona as general manager. The Alexandra is a family business with a strong family outlook, so we make it our priority to nurture talent from within ­ Fiona's progression through the ranks over the last eleven years is testament to this. We know that Fiona will take on this new role with the same enthusiasm and passion as her previous roles, and we can't wait to see the hotel thrive under her leadership."

Guest said: "I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to step up to general manager, and I can't wait for the challenge that this new role will bring and I look forward to many more years working with at the Alexandra."

Set on a cliff overlooking Lyme Bay, with direct access to the beach, the Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant is set in a Grade II listed historic house. The house dates to 1735 and was originally built for the Countess Dowager Poulett.
 
The hotel has 24 individually-designed bedrooms, each named after historical owners of the house. It is home to two restaurants; the Alexandra Restaurant and the newly opened Ammonite.
