US: A boutique hotel housed within the Asbury Ocean Club condominium tower is scheduled to open this summer.

The operators say the 54-roomhotel will open on July 4, 2019 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The lobby of the new hotel will be on the fourth floor of the Asbury Ocean Club, a 17-story glass-and-steel tower overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on Asbury Park's waterfront. Hotel guests will share the pool and other common areas of the complex with condominium owners.

David Bowd, the hotel operator hired by iStar, said: "This is truly a luxury, five-star experience in a modern way. Service is attentive, but a little less formal. It's more suited to the personality of Asbury Park."

The Asbury Ocean Hotel will include four one-bedroom suites with kitchens, two full baths, and a dining area; seven studio lofts that include sofa beds, some with eating or work areas; and 33 smaller executive and standard rooms. All rooms include views of the ocean or dunes, iStar said.

iStar is the real estate investment firm that inherited the role of developing Asbury Park's waterfront redevelopment area.

Key members of The Asbury team, including Bowd, were reunited for the development and operation of the Ocean Club Hotel.

The Ocean Club's amenities include a 65-by-30-foot pool, with a deck and bar overlooking the ocean; and a central lounge area known as the Drawing Room featuring a fireplace and baby grand piano. Each guest room features 11-foot ceilings, with matching wooden floor and ceiling tiles.

Dining options will include a Mediterranean-inspired menu served all day in the Drawing Room, poolside, and as part of 24-hour room service. There is a hotel dining room, The Gallery and ground floor restaurant.

The Ocean Club complex will include 22,000 square feet of retail space scheduled to open in 2020.

Last June, iStar reopened the storied Asbury Lanes music venue and bowling ally alongside the company's chairman, Jay Sugarman.

Commenting on the new hotel's opening, Sugarman described it as: "A symbol of the return of this town to its rightful glory and an opportunity for us to create the ultimate beach lifestyle for those who want the very best."
