US: Short-term rental company AvantStay has moved into the boutique hotel space with The Baker Hotel, which formerly operated as The Buckner Hotel.

The Baker will have a total of 22 rooms in which the design pays homage to David Baker's style and love of travel - who the building is named after.

It will also feature a rooftop with three fire pits and a communal BBQ.

Regarding staff, the hotel will have a combination of remote management support and an on-site host/front desk. Although most of the operations will take place in AvantStay's HQ, the team wanted to provide a 'face' for immediate guest support.

A local hospitality manager and housekeeping team will also be available.

In addition to booking directly, AvantStay will use platforms such as Airbnb and Expedia. The entire hotel will also be marketed for buy-outs such as weddings or company events.

Sean Breuner, founder and CEO of AvantStay, said: "2019 was a tremendous year of growth, and we couldn't be more excited tot keep this momentum going into the New Year. The Baker is a huge milestone for us as we continue our expansion into the boutique hotel space, bringing group-centric, 360-degree experiences to every type of traveller".

"That is why we chose The Baker as our next launch," continued Breuner. "It's a historic property with great bones that we have elevated to make it a must-book location where guests can reserve single rooms or buy out the entire space for larger events like a wedding or a reunion. We want to provide a space that allows each guest to take full advantage of our group experiences and create memories that will last a lifetime".

Reuben Doetsch, co-founder of AvantStay, added: "AvantStay is rooted in technology-driven experiences. With this launch, we're able to expand our tech-empowered group experience into a boutique setting that emphasises connected communal spaces, group buy-outs and native and authentic stays".

The Baker is scheduled to open in the New Year.
