Belize: Opening with the initial phase of 18 completed hotel suites along the beachfront on Placenia Beach, 103 villas are scheduled to come on line in spring 2020.

Developed by Fernando Paiz, known for creating hotel, residential and mixed-use properties in Central America, the vision for Itz'ana Resort & Residences was to reflect principles of sustainability.

These include the installation of a wastewater management system, solar panels on residences, locally sourced wood and design features, and LED-efficient lighting to name a few.

Paiz's company, Latam Hotels, is the first independent operator of a Hyatt franchise.

The resort was designed in collaboration with Boston-based architect Roberto de Oliveira Castro and New York-based interior designer Samuel Amoia.

Murals by George Venson, the owner of Voutsa - a textile studio - will be featured in the reception area, the Rum Room, and in the guest rooms.

All guest accommodations include LCD TV's, Gilchrist & Soames amenities, and custom Itz'ana organic bath products.

The first floor of the Great House will open with the initial phase also. When finished, it will comprise a Rum Room, the Limilia restaurant, Biblio Bar, a rooftop yoga deck, a movie-screening area, and a member's lounge.

Activities and experiences offered at Itz'ana include night hikes and swimming with whale sharks, all coordinated at the adventure centre, as well as a gym and spa.
