UK: Hotel Brooklyn, a design-led hotel, is located in the centre of Portland Street.

The name of the 189-room hotel was selected for Brookyln's resonance with Manchester, in terms of its industrial growth, identity and culture.

Designed by Squid Inc, the team behind Hotel Gotham, architectural features pay homage to the New York City borough, such as the wide-paced steps in the hotel's lobby which is designed as a communal area.

The Snug, completed with an open fireplace and record player, is a cosy more intimate space.

Inspired by Brooklyn's loft spaces, the bedrooms feature brick walls with brass bed adornments. Bathrooms have been angled to allow their back walls and semi opaque windows to look out across the room.

Motionspot, an accessible design company, has overseen 18 bedrooms.

"Accessible accommodation at Hotel Brooklyn features subtle details like basins with integrated hand grips, removable matt black grab rails, accessible bedroom storage and a hidden ceiling track hoist," said Ed Warner, founder and CEO of Motionspot. "We hope this high level of attention paid to inclusivity will make Hotel Brooklyn one of the most sought-after venues for guests of all abilities".

The hotel's bar and restaurant, named Runyon's after American writer, Damon Runyon, will serve a menu of European and American-inspired dishes, with vegetarian and vegan options.

Salvation, the hotel's event bar on the top floor, will feature exposed brick work, pop art and neon lights.

Regional suppliers were used wherever possible in the hotel. Deanhouse Interiors were commissioned to fabricate the entire fit-out package from wardrobes to the reception pods; PS Interiors were able to source key furniture pieces including the retro-styled bedroom chairs; Elegant Clutter Artwork sourced New York street art; and The Knot Collective designed two bespoke rugs for the hotel's public spaces.

Olly Redfern, lead interior designer of Squid Inc, commented: "It was an honour to work with Bespoke Hotels again on creating another iconic Manchester hotel with a strong identity and character. Weaving the lines between Manchester and Brooklyn is a bold and inspirational project that draws many parallels and it was incredibly fun to do, partnering with some of the best local suppliers to create the finished look".

Paul Bayliss, the hotel's general manager, added: "I am delighted to be leading the team at Hotel Brooklyn, as we look to make an immediate impact across Manchester and the North West. I have kept a close eye on the success of Hotel Gotham in recent years, and have deep affinity for the city, so I'm excited by the challenge of making a similarly positive impact here".
