Caribbean: Secret Bay, an eco-luxury resort in the Commonwealth of Dominica, is the first Relais & Châteaux member in Dominica.

"We are deeply honoured to share that Secret Bay has been selected to join Relais & Châteaux," said the resort's management team. "Our dedication to sustainability, highly personalised service and culinary ingenuity are just a few reasons why we've been recognised as one of he world's finest intimate hotels".

The resort is also the only such hotel on the island that is approved under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme. Investors must pass a series of due diligence checks to receive Dominica's citizenship, however applicants are not required to have previous entrepreneurial experience, nor reside or pass language and culture tests.

Along with other hotels that are approved under the CBI Programme, such as Jungle Bay Villas, Secret Bay is helping to establish an ecotourism sector in Dominica.

Dominica's prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, made a promise to become "the world's first climate-resilient nation" following the destruction of Hurricane Maria in 2017. National Geographic recently recognised how the country is on track to meet this fulfilment.
