Construction begins on Bike & Boot property
UK: The former Mount Hotel in Scarborough will be home to the first Bike & Boot hotel - a “modern leisure” concept with “funky interiors” by Simon Rhatigan and Simon Kershaw.
The 50-bedroom hotel will be completely overhauled and revitalised into 65-bedroom Bike & Boot Inn.
Infiniti Roofing & Construction has started work on the six-month refurbishment, securing employment for 20 skilled professionals as well as specialist trade contractors.
Infiniti director, Marcus Rowe, said: "This is an incredibly exciting project for us and is an indication of the kind of high quality construction work that Infiniti Roofing & Construction aims to be involved with. There are already plenty of hotels in Scarborough and North Yorkshire, but nothing at all like this - it will be truly spectacular".
Working alongside interior designer, Rachel McLane Ltd, the refurbishment involves installation of high-end bathrooms with new showers and toilets, including fresh carpets and decor in all 65 rooms, as well as the creation of a new in-house cinema, dog and boot wash, E-bike charging stations, and improvements to the bar, restaurant, and kitchen areas.
Rhatigan and Kershaw bought The Mount Hotel in Scarborough earlier in January this year, funded by a £2.8 million loan from OakNorth bank.
On securing the property, Rhatigan and Kershaw said: "We are very excited to be launching this new hotel concept and feel this beautiful site in Scarborough is the ideal location to get started. Our hope is that Bike & Boot will offer a unique escape for not only tourists, but also for locals who might wish to visit the restaurant or cinema".
