DMA wins planning for Mandeville Hotel mixed-use scheme

UK: The lasted design plans by Dexter Moren Associates (DMA) includes two serviced apartments, retail and office units, as well as a new hotel bar and restaurant.

Located in Marylebone, London, the third and final phase of refurbishment was achieved after the Mandeville Hotel bough an adjacent listed building, 2 Hinde Mews, and linked this to the main hotel.

It also offered the opportunity to maximise the potential of the property regarding the number of rooms and their sizes, as well as allowing for additional facilities such as conference spaces, new food and beverage outlets, and retail units.

Partner at DMA, Herbert Lui, said: "DMA have working with the Mandeville Hotel over the last few years, gaining planning consent for all three phases with designs that support their ambition to provide a five-star guest experience. This last phase will transform the Mandeville Hotel complex into a truly mixed-use development in the heart of Marylebone Village within the Harley Street Conservation Area".

Lui added: "The remodelling of the hotel through three separate design and planning phases has required skilful space planning and remodelling of the existing buildings. The entire hotel complex consists of buildings of different ages and character, so stitching them together in a seamless flow has been a challenging but rewarding journey. The second phase consent to increase the height of the taller annexe building facing Marylebone Lane was testament to that, against all odds, additional height in sensitive locations can be achieved through high quality design".

The latest plans were granted in September 2019 and work is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020.
