Germany: On World Cleanup Day, Penta employees dedicated 980 working hours in support of local communities.

This year's World Cleanup Day united 179 countries and 18 million volunteers, and Penta employees participated in the clean ups of local parks, rivers and beaches.

"At Penta, we have a great appreciation for the neighbourhoods that we are a part of and a huge respect for the nature that surrounds us. Our community is shaped through the same values we share as a brand. We care, we trust, we challenge, and we also give back, which are key elements of a community," said Eugène Staal, president of Penta Hotels Worldwide.

"Giving is an act that makes this world a better place. By giving, we do not simply want to transfer money to another bank account. We really want to make an impact, get involved directly and get our hands dirty," Staal remarked.

Last December, the brand launched the #PentaGives initiative as a core component of its global social responsibility campaign.

Other initiatives include:

  • The mission to go completely carbon neutral by 2030.
  • The aim to eradicate single-use plastic from all Penta hotels, phasing out plastic water bottles and trialling water filtration systems.
  • Cooperating with sustainable brands, such as Too Good To Go - a UK-based company focused on the elimination of food waste by donating leftover food at a heavily reduced price.
  • Encouraging guests and staff to take part in socially conscious community activities. This year, Penta organised five major beach cleans, including one as part of its sponsorship of Cornwall's Boardmasters Festival.

At present, the UK is a key market for Penta with six current hubs in Inverness, Reading, Ipswich, Derby, Birmingham, and Warrington.

Penta Hotels operates 29 properties across eight countries in two continents, and is a member of Rosewood Hotel Group.
