UK: Bespoke Hotels enters its third decade of operations in 2019 as the UK’s largest independent hotel group, with more than 200 properties worldwide.

Founded in 1999 by Robin Sheppard and Haydn Fentum, the company has seen consistent growth across the company, with Bespoke now managing over 9,500 hotel rooms and £815 million in assets, alongside employing 8,000 staff.

Beginning with a small group of properties, including Warwickshire's Billesley Manor, alongside Hampshire's Marwell Hotel - both of which remain part of the collection today - Bespoke Hotels first expanded into the London market in 2004, via management of Portman Square's Home House.

Despite the 2007 economic recession, Bespoke saw an increasing number of approaches from both institutional owners and banks, with fifteen properties joining the group that year, followed by an additional nine in 2008. In 2009 the group opened its first new build property - The Bermondey Square Hotel - in London Bridge.

Bespoke's first overseas properties joined in 2010, before opening an additional 34 properties comprising the Oxford Hotel Group in 2011. Offices in India and Dubai were opened in 2015, alongside the arrival of the Chester Grosvenor Hotel and launch of the group's other flagship Hotel Gotham.

Hotel Gotham has picked up more than 19 industry awards since its launch. A second site for the Hotel Gotham brand in Glasgow has now been established.

Haydn Fentum, CEO and founder of Bespoke Hotels, said: "It is with immense pride that we welcome our 20-year anniversary. When Robin and I began our journey in 1999 we weren't sure quite what to expect. However, the tireless hard work of our teams across the country has ensured financial stability, as well as an exciting rate of growth and expansion.

Robin Sheppard, chairman and co-founder of Bespoke Hotels, added: "While the business itself has transformed dramatically over the preceding two decades, I am immensely proud to say our principles and focus have not changed. We have thrived in challenging economic circumstances, establishing and maintaining valuable relationships across the UK and abroad. Here's to the next 20!"
