UK: The Torridon Hotel, a boutique hotel in the Scottish Highlands, has been awarded five-star accreditation by the AA.

Set on the edge of a sea loch overlooked by the Torridon mountains in Wester Ross, The Torridon has 18 individually-designed bedrooms that "combine Victorian character, contemporary design and bold colours". Its restaurant, 1887, presents four or seven course supplier-led, daily-changing menus of dishes made from local produce.

Hotel owner Dan Rose-Bristow said: "We are very happy to have been given a five-star listing by the AA. The Torridon offers a consistently high level of service, we are continuously refreshing bedrooms and 1887 is renowned for its top-class menus - to receive recognition for this is extremely satisfying."

The accreditation comes hot on the heels of The Torridon winning Most Hospitable Hotel of the Year in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards 2017, and of one of the hotel's apprentices, Rosie Wilkins, winning Apprentice of the Year Level 2 as well as Scotland's Apprentice of the Year in the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards 2017.
