US: The Harbor Hotel in Provincetown’s East End has been sold to a subsidiary of the Linchris Hotel Corp. for $15.5 million.

The property, which is described as a "laid-back hideaway" that is "retro-glam in all the right places" has 129 guest rooms. Its new owners also own and operate the Surfside Hotel and Suites, less than a mile to the west.

The previous owners, a group of investors operating as 698 Commercial Street Realty LLC, bought the hotel in 2010 for $5.1 million.

Chris Gistis, CEO of Linchris Hotels, said: "We bought it because we like the Provincetown market." Linchris is based in Boston, and operates 33 hotels in 12 states.

Elaine Quigley, general manager of the Surfside, said: "I think this is a good thing for Provincetown. There have been a lot of changes at the Surfside since Linchris purchased it. With the owners putting money back into the property, it's become very successful. They have a lot of good plans for improvements at the Harbor Hotel, upgrades in the rooms and enlarging the pool area."

"Each property will have its own manager," said Gistis of his company's two Provincetown hotels, "but they will work closely together."
