US: Yotel has announced it will open its second city hotel in Long Island City, New York, in partnership with Eastone Equities.

Inspired by the sleek design and comfort of first-class airline travel, Yotel first launched its city hotel concept in Midtown Manhattan near Times Square.

Yotel Long Island City is the group's eighth hotel under development in the US, alongside hotels in Boston, San Francisco, Miami and three YotelPad properties in Miami, Park City and Mammoth.

From the new property, guests will be able to easily access Manhattan in under 20 minutes and New York's main airports, LaGuardia and JFK, within 45 minutes.

At the 178-cabin hotel, guests have access to co-working and meeting spaces, multi-functional public areas, an 'always-open' fully equipped gym and an indoor and outdoor rooftop terrace with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.

Hubert Viriot, Yotel chief executive, said: "We stepped onto the global stage with our first city hotel in New York City. It was here that our clever design and technology driven concept, offering guests extraordinary value and convenience in the heart of Manhattan, was embraced for the first time. Since the launch, our city brand has expanded into many sought-after global locations. We are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to be back where it all began, and together with our owners, Eastone Equities, can't wait to introduce our unique hospitality offering to Long Island City."

Yotel says Long Island City boasts a wealth of cultural, educational and business offerings, making it particularly appealing to young professionals as it quickly transforms into a technology hub.

This is set to increase following Amazon's announcement to open headquarters in Long Island City.

Institutions including the MoMA PS1, several film studios, educational establishments such as Citibank, Uber and Met Life are all within walking distance of the new hotel.

The project is currently in development stages and designed by Design 101.
