Nicaragua: Malibu Popoyo, an all-inclusive boutique surf resort will open its doors on December 1.

Located along Nicaragua's Costa Esmeralda, Malibu Popoyo aims to "revitalise the mind, body and soul through an intuitive and immersive experience that caters to surfers, yoga enthusiasts and adventure travellers".

Opening with six guest rooms with an additional six to follow shortly; along with a new beachfront area featuring a yoga palapa doubling as an entertainment area for live music; an upgraded spa experience; a beachfront bar; bonfire pits and much more. The expansion is set for completion in spring 2019, just before peak surf season.

"Travel to Nicaragua has increased drastically over the past few years and the destination is quickly becoming a much sought-after travel destination," said owner Jade Chang Sheppard. "As a  surfer, the surf culture, world-class waves in this area and the amazing hospitality of the Nicaraguan people, really spoke to me. When I first visited, I immediately felt connected to this community and look forward to making Malibu Popoyo one of the most authentic surf and wellness experiences in the world."

Beyond surf and yoga, Malibu Popoyo offers access to other outdoor excursions that encourage guests to explore their surroundings. Options include hiking, kiting, fishing, horseback riding, locally led tours, cultural experiences and Spanish lessons.

Guests can also enjoy on-site spa services including rejuvenating massage, reflexology and facials; grab-and-go amenities including beach supplies and sunscreen along with artisan bowls and baskets packed with healthy snacks.
