US: citizenM to launch hotel in Southwest D.C.

citizenM has announced plans to open a hotel in Washington D.C.

The hotel will house 252 rooms. It is part of a larger development, which includes a 194 unit apartment building.

The project is being managed by E Street Development Group LLC, a partnership that includes CityPartners LLC and Potomac Investment Properties Inc.

citizenM brands itself as "low-cost luxury". The chain pairs smaller hotel rooms with larger, multipurpose lobby areas where guests spend a greater proportion of their time. The rooms are small, but feature luxury amenities.

This new opening will be one of the first citizenM hotels in the U.S. The majority of the chain operates in Europe. The first citizenM opened in New York in the heart of Times Square in 2014 and others are set to open Seattle, the Bowery in New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
