Japan: Minimalist household and consumer goods retailer Muji will open its second hotel in Tokyo’s Ginza district.

Set to open in the spring of 2019, the site has already hosted a ground-breaking ceremony. The hotel on the site will take up the 6th to 10th floors of the building, with retail on the other floors.

Muji is also developing its first hotel in China in Shenzhen, which will open this autumn.

The retailer joins other high street brands such as West Elm and Laura Ashley in opening hotels.
