Woodbine Development Corporation (Woodbine) and sports academy IMG Academy (IMG) have embarked on a boutique hotel development project in IMG's 500-acre campus in Bradenton.

The five-story hotel will be known as The Legacy Hotel at IMG Academy. The hotel will provide luxury accommodation for guests and clients of the world-class training facility, including visiting teams, coaches, athletes and parents.

Dallas-based development company Woodbine is developing the property for IMG. The general contractor for the project if Tandem Construction. They will work alongside consulting partners 5G Studio, Edge ID and SWA. Whitney Bank d.b.a. Hancock Bank is the lender.

IMG is a world-renowned training facility that specialises in improving the performance of student athletes. IMG hosts clients and guests from around the world for boarding school, youth and adult camps, college and professional athlete training, team training and other sporting events.

King Scovell, chief development officer and managing partner of Woodbine, said: "Woodbine loves hotels, but we also have a passion for sports that inspires the team approach our company takes to every project we do. All of that makes this particular partnership and hotel especially exciting for us. Once this hotel opens, IMG Academy will finally have world-class accommodations that align with its world-class facility-a big win for the sports campus and for Bradenton."

The hotel is set to open in the autumn of 2018.
