Malta: Hotelogique founders and directors Jan Karl Farrugia and Frankie Spiteri have opened their second Quant boutique hotel on the island of Gozo.

The 10-room Quaint Boutique Hotel in Xewkija's St John the Baptist Square joins the first property in Nadur, which opened in June 2015.

"Essentially, the idea is that the village becomes part of the facilities of the hotel, thus promoting local businesses with both foreign and domestic tourists in Gozo," said Spiteri, the general manager of Quaint Hotels.

The hotel, which was inaugurated on 6 March by Dr Joseph Muscat, the prime minister of Malta, is the first of three hotels opening this year, and the first of five that will be launched in the next two years.

"The next Quaint Boutique Hotel will be opened in Sannat, while the one after that will be in Ghajnsielem," continued Spiteri. "This has been a fantastic journey so far, and the brand is moving forward at a much faster rate than we first anticipated. I think we have carved out a successful niche for ourselves in the hospitality industry, and we're looking forward to continuing our work alongside the many other Gozitan businesses in years to come."
