UK: Triptease, a website aimed at helping hotels to boost their direct bookings, has completed a $7 million funding round.

Investors include entire capital houses Notion Capital and Episode 1, both of whom have previously backed the company.

Triptease's best-known product is Price Check, a widget that sits on hotel websites and displays prices from across the web in real time. Other tools provided by the company include a broader price checking data platform, a website messaging feature designed to catch visitors before they are about to leave a hotel's own website, and a soon-to-be-launched retargeting ad solution.

Triptease says it is working with 8,000 hotels worldwide, including Loews, Barcelo, Corinthia Hotels, Rocco Forte Hotels, SLS Hotels, One & Only, Denihan, PH Hotels, Leonardo Hotels, citizenM, The Address Hotels + Resorts, Red Carnation, Steigenberger and LUX* Resorts & Hotels‎.

Company co-founder and 'chief tease' Charlie Osmond said: "It's crazy. We knew hotels were desperate for direct bookings. We tried and failed with a few initial ideas, but then suddenly hit on a little bit of magic. The impact on direct bookings was beyond expectations. We kept our heads down and launched two more tools. With this funding we will continue to invest in our products, which will help us deliver 10 million additional direct bookings this year. It's going to be great for guests and great for hotels."

Charlie Osmond will be speaking at the Boutique and Lifestyle Hotel Summit, in London, on May 24th.
