The 45-room property is in a restored 1880s building downtown. It is owned by Pittsfield residents David and Laurie Tierney III and operated by Main Street Hospitality Group, a Berkshires-based company that also runs the Porches Inn at MASS MoCA and Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge.

In collaboration with local architect Karen Hunt, Main Street Hospitality's in-house design team "did what we know how to do best," says the company's owner, Nancy Fitzpatrick, "which is combining the local with the historical".

The interiors feature furniture and accessories from local businesses and artisans, including rugs from Dash & Albert, bathroom vanities and desks by furniture-maker Philip Bastow, and light fixtures by Peter Murkett of New England Modern.

These are combined with cabinets, tables, and mirrors from local vintage stores. "I went to a lot of auctions, and consignment, antiques, and junk shops to find things," says Fitzpatrick. "I like to think that guests coming to stay at the hotel live with some pieces that belonged to area families generations ago."
