Sri Lanka: Onyx Hospitality Group has unveiled its second Sri Lankan Ozo property, in Kandy.

Ozo Kandy is located close to the town centre and offers views of Kandy Lake and the surrounding hills, including Knuckle Mountain.

Onyx says the last international hotel brand to enter Kandy was in 1981 and since then the market has been dominated by local operators. The company, with joint venture partners Sino Lanka Hotels Holdings and The Kandy Hotels Co. identified Kandy as a potential destination to develop a mid market property.

The 122-room hotel features a fitness room, rooftop pool, restaurant and rooftop lounge.

Alexandre Glauser, area general manager of Ozo Sri Lanka said: "We are very excited to welcome our first guests to experience the Ozo philosophy of great sleep and good connectivity in this much loved town. Kandy is a destination with huge potential for local and international visitors, and by adding a quality hotel product like Ozo, we hope to be able to introduce a new type of visitor to the destination who will in turn help to boost the local economy.  Following the successful launch of Ozo Colombo in 2014, the team and I are confident that Ozo Kandy will soon become the most sought-after property in the area by both locals and international visitors."
