US: The Chicago Athletic Association hotel, scheduled to open in spring 2015, has appointed Patrick Hatton as general manager.

Hatton will oversee the pre-opening period and be responsible for "day-to-day operations once the 241-room luxury lifestyle hotel opens its doors to guests".

The historic building's transformation into a 241-room boutique hotel is the result of a partnership between Commune Hotels & Resorts, AJ Capital Partners, Geolo Capital, Agman Partners, Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, and Roman and Williams Building and Interiors. The Chicago Athletic Association hotel will feature 17,000 square feet of event space with views of Lake Michigan, 23 suites, an interactive game room, curated retail space by Madison Hall and multiple "innovative culinary experiences".

Hatton said: "Joining Chicago Athletic Association hotel's leadership team is a great honor, and I'm excited to be a part of this iconic moment in Chicago history. I have always had an affinity for Chicago, and being a part of something that gives back to this great city, and its residents and visitors, is more than I could ever ask for in my career."

Hatton has previously worked at the James Royal Palm in Miami, The James Chicago and Hotel Nikki Chicago.
