US: Thompson Hotels' Smyth Tribeca property in Manhattan is undergoing a revamp over the summer and autumn.

The property, at 85 West Broadway, will feature a redesign "reflecting Tribeca's rich history and vibrant culture".

Thompson Hotels, part of Commune Hotels & Resorts, said: "The Smyth will re-launch as an eclectic 'home away from home,' fusing warm architectural elements and mid-century modern design by celebrated interior design firm Gachot, with thoughtful services and amenities, including new food and beverage programming by James Beard award-winning Chef Andrew Carmellini and his partners Josh Pickard and Luke Ostrom. Renovations will also include a light refresh of the hotel's 100 well-appointed guestrooms, including the expansive Penthouse and Smyth Suite."

During the transition, Smyth Tribeca will remain open, with the penthouse and terrace being used as a temporary guest lounge.

Hotel renovations are scheduled for completion in late 2014.
