India: Naresh Chandnani has been appointed by Luxury Hotels Group as regional director Asia.

Luxury Hotels Group has extended its global hospitality marketing and distribution network with the opening of an office in New Delhi, and the appointment of Naresh Chandnani as regional director for Asia.

The company says India is "probably the fastest growing outbound travel market in the world, thereby, offering enormous potential for current and sustained future growth in outbound travel". In 2014, approximately 20 million Indians will be travelling overseas. According to UNWTO predictions, India will account for more than 50 million outbound tourists by 2020.
New appointment Chandnani has more than 25 years of hospitality experience spanning operations, sales and marketing, and strategic business and brand development. He was recently ranked as among the 100 most influential people in the Indian Hospitality Industry for 2013 by Hotelier India magazine.
His hospitality career includes 13 years with TAJ Hotels & Palaces, three years with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, three years with Worldhotels and more than seven years launching IHHR Hospitality as group vice president sales and marketing.
Mark Jones, vice president of Luxury Hotels Group, said: "Opening a dedicated office in India is a significant step to support a fast-growing global network of hotels, as we continue to expand worldwide. We would be looking at getting luxury hotels from India, on board the LHG platform, which undoubtedly would enrich the hotel's own identity and provide exposure to new markets that would be otherwise unreachable."
